Rapid prototyping for engineers and startups

We turn CAD into a part you can hold within days. Trivedi Mechlab prints functional FDM prototypes in PLA, PETG and ABS/ASA in Ahmedabad, prices each revision within 1 working day and ships across India, so you can test fit, assembly and load, change the model and print again.

STAGES

Print each stage for the question it answers.

A concept model and a load test need different settings. These are the defaults we start from; the quote adjusts them to your part.

  1. What is FDM prototyping good for?

Fit checks, assembly mock-ups, enclosures, brackets, jigs and early functional tests: anything where shape and strength matter more than a mirror finish.

FDM builds the part from 0.4 mm lines of molten plastic, so you hold real engineering material, not a resin model that cracks when it is screwed down. That makes it the fastest honest test of whether a design works.

It is the wrong process for clear optics, features finer than the nozzle, and cosmetic surfaces with no visible layers. We say so in the quote if your part needs one of those.

  2. How fast can a prototype turn around?

The price arrives within 1 working day of the file, and most parts dispatch 1–3 working days after payment.

Express and Priority delivery move a job up the queue; the quote states the exact dispatch date and the surcharge before you pay. Tell us your deadline in the notes, and if we cannot meet it we say so straight away.

  3. How do revisions work?

Reply to the quote email with the new file. We check what changed and send the revised price the same way.

Mark what moved since the last print, such as a wall thickened or a boss shifted, and we look there first. Keep the old prints: comparing revision 2 with revision 3 on the desk is the point of prototyping.

  4. Which material should a prototype be in?

Print the first fit check in PLA, then test function in the material the part will be made in.

PLA is quick and dimensionally steady, which is what a fit check needs. For load, snap fits and anything warm, switch to PETG or ABS/ASA so the test tells you how the real part behaves. The materials guide lists the differences.

  5. Can you design the part as well?

Yes. If you have a sketch, a broken part or only the problem, the designer models it for printing first.

See custom design. You approve the CAD before anything prints, then the prototype follows the same steps as above.

QUESTIONS

From engineers, before the first print.

Can you print parts that snap or screw together?

Yes. Tell us which parts mate and how, and we check the clearances before printing. Snap fits work best in PETG, which flexes instead of cracking.

Do printed threads work?

Coarse threads print well when the axis is vertical. For M3 and smaller, or anything assembled more than a few times, we recommend heat-set brass inserts or a plain hole for a self-tapping screw.

Will my design stay confidential?

Your files are stored privately and only the studio opens them. We never publish or reuse a customer part, and quote files that do not go ahead are deleted after 30 days.

Can one part be printed in two materials?

Each part is printed in one material. An assembly can mix them: a PLA housing with PETG clips, for example. List the material per file in your notes.
